علائم الجاهل
الْجَاهِلُ لَا يَرْتَدِعُ
The ignorant one does not restrain himself [from evil]

الْجَاهِلُ لَا يَرْعَوِي
The ignorant person does not desist [from sinning]

الْجَاهِلُ مَنْ خَدَعَتْهُ الْمَطَالِبُ
The ignorant person is deceived by [false] claims

الْعَالِمُ يَنْظُرُ بِقَلْبِهِ وَخَاطِرِهِ وَالْجَاهِلُ يَنْظُرُ بِعَيْنِهِ وَنَاظِرِهِ
The scholar sees with his heart and his mind while the ignorant one sees with his eyes and his eyesight

الْجَاهِلُ إِذَا جَمَدَ وَجَدَ [إِذَا جَحَدَ وَحَّدَ] وَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَلْحَدَ [وحد]
When the ignorant one becomes stingy (or denies), he obtains [wealth] and when he obtains [wealth] (or professes belief in one God), he apostatizes

الْجَاهِلُ لَنْ يُلْقَى [يلغى] أَبَداً إِلَّا مُفَرِّطاً أَوْ مُفْرِطاً
The ignorant one is not seen to be anything but immoderate (or excessive)

الْجَاهِلُ لَا يَرْتَدِعُ وَبِالْمَوَاعِظِ [بِالْمَوْعِظَةِ] لَا يَنْتَفِعُ
Neither does an ignorant restrain himself [from wrongdoing] nor does he benefit from good advice

الْجَاهِلُ لَا يَعْرِفُ تَقْصِيرَهُ وَلَا يَقْبَلُ مِنَ النَّصِيحِ لَهُ
An ignorant person does not recognize his failure and does not accept the [good] advice given to him

ثَرْوَةُ الْجَاهِلِ فِي مَالِهِ وَأَمَلِهِ
The wealth of an ignorant person is in his worldly possessions and his hopes

طَاعَةُ الْجَهُولِ تَدُلُّ عَلَى الْجَهْلِ
Obedience to the foolish is a sign of ignorance

عُقُوبَةُ الْجُهَلَاءِ التَّصْرِيحُ
The punishment of the ignorant is [in the form of open] declaration

غَايَةُ الْجَهْلِ تَبَجُّحُ الْمَرْءِ بِجَهْلِهِ
The pinnacle of ignorance is for a person to brag about his ignorance

كُلَّمَا حَسُنَتْ نِعْمَةُ الْجَاهِلِ ازْدَادَ قُبْحاً فِيهَا
Whenever the blessing of an ignorant person becomes good, his ugliness in it increases

لِسَانُ الْجَهْلِ الْخُرْقُ
The language of ignorance is impoliteness
