لِكُلِّ أَمْرٍ عَاقِبَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ أَوْ مُرَّةٌ
For every matter there is an outcome, [be it] sweet or bitter

رَاقِبِ الْعَوَاقِبَ تَنْجُ مِنَ الْمَعَاطِبِ
Be careful of the outcomes and you will be saved from destruction

مَنْ نَظَرَ فِي الْعَوَاقِبِ سَلِمَ مِنَ النَّوَائِبِ
One who considers the outcomes remains safe from calamities

مَنْ رَاقَبَ الْعَوَاقِبَ أَمِنَ الْمَعَاطِبَ
One who is careful of the outcomes is safe from peril [and destruction]

مَنْ فَكَّرَ فِي الْعَوَاقِبِ أَمِنَ الْمَعَاطِبَ
One who thinks about the consequences is saved from [places of] destruction

مَنْ رَاقَبَ الْعَوَاقِبَ سَلِمَ مِنَ النَّوَائِبِ
One who is careful of the outcomes remains safe from calamities

مَنِ انْتَظَرَ الْعَوَاقِبَ سَلِمَ [صَبَرَ]
One who expects [and considers] the outcomes remains safe

مَنْ نَظَرَ فِي الْعَوَاقِبِ سَلِمَ
One who considers the outcomes remains safe

لَا عَاقِبَةَ أَسْلَمُ مِنْ عَوَاقِبِ السِّلْمِ
There is no outcome sounder than the outcomes of peace

مِلَاكُ الْأُمُورِ حُسْنُ الْخَوَاتِمِ
The gauge of [successful] matters is [in] their good endings

مِلَاكُ الْخَوَاتِمِ مَا أَسْفَرَ عَنْ رِضَى اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ
The basis of [the success of] outcomes is that which results in the pleasure of Allah, the Glorified

مَكْرُوهٌ تُحْمَدُ عَاقِبَتُهُ [عَوَاقِبُهُ] خَيْرٌ مِنْ مَحْبُوبٍ تُذَمُّ مَغَبَّتُهُ
The disliked act which has a praiseworthy result is better than the action which one loves [but] whose outcome is dispraised

أَحْزَمُ النَّاسِ مَنْ كَانَ الصَّبْرُ وَالنَّظَرُ فِي الْعَوَاقِبِ شِعَارَهُ وَدِثَارَهُ
The most judicious of people is the one whose inner and outer garments are patience and consideration of the consequences [of his actions]

إِذَا هَمَمْتَ بِأَمْرٍ فَاجْتَنِبْ ذَمِيمَ الْعَوَاقِبِ فِيهِ
When you endeavour to act upon a matter, then eschew the blameworthy outcomes in it

رُبَّمَا تَنَغَّصَ السُّرُورُ
At times happiness becomes roiled

فِي الْعَوَاقِبِ شَافٍ أَوْ مُرِيحٌ
In the outcomes [of matters] there is [either] a curer or a comforter

لِكُلِّ أَمْرٍ مَآلٌ
Every matter has an outcome

أَوَاخِرُ مَصَادِرِ التَّوَقِّي أَوَائِلُ مَوَارِدِ الْحَذَرِ
The last sources of self-preservation are the first points of caution
