Justice relieves the one who acts upon it from being shackled by the rights of others

الْعَدْلُ رَأْسُ الْإِيمَانِ وَجِمَاعُ الْإِحْسَانِ [وَ أَعْلَى مَرَاتِبِ الْإِيمَانِ]

الْعَدْلُ أَنَّكَ إِذَا ظُلِمْتَ أَنْصَفْتَ وَالْفَضْلُ أَنَّكَ إِذَا قَدَرْتَ عَفَوْتَ
Justice means that you act equitably when you are oppressed, and kindness means that when you gain authority, you forgive

In justice there is comfort; and one for whom justice is beleaguering, then oppression will be more beleaguering [and difficult] for him

مِنْ لَوَازِمِ الْعَدْلِ التَّنَاهِي عَنِ الظُّلْمِ
From the exigencies of justice is the forbidding of oppression

Acting on the principle of justice is from the signs of nobility

مِنْ أَفْضَلِ الِاخْتِيَارِ وَأَحْسَنِ الِاسْتِظْهَارِ أَنْ تَعْدِلَ فِي الْحُكْمِ وَتُجْرِيَهُ فِي الْخَاصَّةِ وَالْعَامَّةِ عَلَى السَّوَاءِ
One of the most excellent choices and best precautions [and supports] is for you to be just in your ruling (or judgment) and to carry it out among the special and the ordinary [people] equally

Acting on the [established] practice of justice is from the signs of intelligence
