الشهوة
حَرَامٌ عَلَى كُلِّ عَقْلٍ مَغْلُولٍ بِالشَّهْوَةِ أَنْ يَنْتَفِعَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ
It is forbidden upon every intellect that is shacked by (or sick with) lust to benefit from wisdom

ذَهَابُ الْعَقْلِ بَيْنَ الْهَوَى وَالشَّهْوَةِ
The departure [and loss] of intellect is between vain desire and lust

غَيْرُ مُنْتَفِعٍ بِالْعِظَاتِ قَلْبٌ مُتَعَلِّقٌ [تَعَلَّقَ] بِالشَّهَوَاتِ
The heart that is attached to lustful desires is unable to benefit from sincere exhortations

مَنْ غَلَبَ شَهْوَتَهُ ظَهَرَ عَقْلُهُ
Whoever overcomes his lust, his intellect becomes manifested

لَا عَقْلَ مَعَ شَهْوَةٍ
There is no reason with lust

لَا تَجْتَمِعُ الشَّهْوَةُ وَالْحِكْمَةُ
Lustful desire and wisdom do not go together

لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَعُدَّ عَاقِلًا مَنْ يَغْلِبُهُ الْغَضَبُ وَالشَّهْوَةُ
He who is overcome by anger and lust should not be counted as an intelligent person

الْعُجْبُ يُفْسِدُ الْعَقْلَ
Conceit corrupts the intellect

الْإِعْجَابُ ضِدُّ الصَّوَابِ وَآفَةُ الْأَلْبَابِ
Self-admiration is contrary to reason and the bane of the intellects

آفَةُ اللُّبِّ الْعُجْبُ
The bane of intellect is self-conceit

شَرُّ آفَاتِ الْعَقْلِ الْكِبْرُ
The worst of all woes of the intellect is arrogance

One who is haughty does not learn
