Knowledge is a refuge

The intellect necessitates caution

الْعِلْمُ [الْحِلْمُ] حِجَابٌ مِنَ الْآفَاتِ
Knowledge is a veil [that protects one] from adversities

الْعِلْمُ يُنْجِي مِنَ الِارْتِبَاكِ فِي الْحَيْرَةِ [بِالْحَيْرَةِ]
Knowledge saves [one] from being entangled in perplexity

بِالْعِلْمِ يَسْتَقِيمُ الْمُعْوَجُّ
Sharing knowledge [with those who deserve] is the alms-tax of knowledge

ثَمَرَةُ الْعِلْمِ مَعْرِفَةُ اللَّهِ
The fruit of knowledge is worship

The fruit of knowledge is acting upon it

ثَمَرَةُ الْعِلْمِ إِخْلَاصُ الْعَمَلِ
The wealth of knowledge saves and preserves

عَلَى قَدْرِ الرَّأْيِ تَكُونُ الْعَزِيمَةُ
Determination [and resolve] is proportionate to the strength of one’s opinion

كَيْفَ يَرْضَى بِالْقَضَاءِ مَنْ لَمْ يَصْدُقْ يَقِينُهُ
How can one whose certitude is not true [and firm] be pleased with the divine decree?

لَنْ تَسْكُنَ حُرْقَةُ الْحِرْمَانِ حَتَّى يَتَحَقَّقَ الْوِجْدَانُ
The anguish of deprivation will not be calmed until acquisition is realized

الْوِجْدَانُ سُلْوَانٌ
Attainment [of one’s goal] is solace

لِسَانُ الْعِلْمِ الصِّدْقُ
The conception of knowledge is imagination and understanding

مَنْ أَيْقَنَ أَحْسَنَ
Whoever possesses certitude does good [deeds]

لَا تَكْمُلُ الْمُرُوءَةُ إِلَّا لِلَّبِيبِ
Magnanimity is not perfected except for the intelligent one

He who has no knowledge has no intention
