الْقَنَاعَةُ عَفَافٌ
Contentment is continence

الْقَنَاعَةُ أَفْضَلُ الْعِفَّتَيْنِ
Contentment is the better of the two forms of continence

أَلَا وَإِنَّ الْقَنَاعَةَ وَغَلَبَةَ الشَّهْوَةِ مِنْ أَكْبَرِ الْعَفَافِ
Indeed contentment and overcoming lustful desires are from the greatest forms of abstinence

حُسْنُ الْقَنَاعَةِ مِنَ الْعَفَافِ
The goodness of contentment stems from continence

عَلَى قَدْرِ الْعِفَّةِ تَكُونُ الْقَنَاعَةُ
Contentment is proportionate to the degree of continence

كُلُّ قَانِعٍ عَفِيفٌ
Every contented one is continent

مَنْ قَنِعَتْ نَفْسُهُ أَعَانَتْهُ عَلَى النَّزَاهَةِ وَالْعَفَافِ
One whose soul is content is assisted by it to become pure and remain chaste

مَنِ اقْتَنَعَ بِالْكَفَافِ أَدَّاهُ إِلَى الْعَفَافِ
One who is content with that which suffices is led by it towards virtue

الْمُسْتَرِيحُ مِنَ النَّاسِ الْقَانِعُ
The most at ease among the people is the contented one

الْقَنَاعَةُ أَهْنَأُ عَيْشٍ
Contentment is the [path to the] most comfortable lifestyle

الْقَانِعُ نَاجٍ مِنْ آفَاتِ الْمَطَامِعِ
The contented one is saved from the woes of covetousness

اقْنَعُوا بِالْقَلِيلِ مِنْ دُنْيَاكُمْ لِسَلَامَةِ دِينِكُمْ فَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ الْبُلْغَةُ الْيَسِيرَةُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا تُقْنِعُهُ
Be content with little from your worldly possessions for the safety of your religion, for indeed the believer is satisfied with the little that he gets of this world

أَنْعَمُ النَّاسِ عَيْشاً مَنْ مَنَحَهُ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ الْقَنَاعَةَ وَأَصْلَحَ لَهُ زَوْجَهُ
The person with the most blessed lifestyle is one who has been granted contentment by Allah, the Glorified, and who has been given a good wife

إِنَّ أَهْنَأَ النَّاسِ عَيْشاً مَنْ كَانَ بِمَا قَسَمَ اللَّهُ لَهُ رَاضِياً
Verily the person who has the happiest life of all people is one who is satisfied with what Allah has apportioned for him

ثَمَرَةُ الْقَنَاعَةِ الْإِجْمَالُ فِي الْمُكْتَسَبِ وَالْعُزُوفُ عَنِ الطَّلَبِ
The fruit of contentment is being moderate in earning [one’s livelihood] and refraining from asking [others]

ضَادُّوا الْحِرْصَ بِالْقُنُوعِ
Counter greed with contentment

عَلَيْكَ بِالْعَفَافِ وَالْقُنُوعِ فَمَنْ أَخَذَ بِهِ خَفَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمُؤَنُ
Espouse chastity and contentment, for whoever does this, his burden of sustenance is lightened

كُلُّ مُؤَنِ الدُّنْيَا خَفِيفَةٌ عَلَى الْقَانِعِ وَالْعَفِيفِ
Every provision of this world is trivial for the contented and the chaste

لَنْ تُوجَدَ الْقَنَاعَةُ حَتَّى يُفْقَدَ الْحِرْصُ
Contentment will never be attained until greed is lost

مَنْ تَقَنَّعَ قَنِعَ
One who makes himself content becomes contented

مَنْ قَنِعَ لَمْ يَغْتَمَّ
One who is content does not get depressed

مَنْ قَنِعَ حَسُنَتْ عِبَادَتُهُ
Whoever is content, his worship becomes good

مَنْ قَنِعَ قَلَّ طَمَعُهُ
Whoever is content, his greed becomes less

مَنْ وُهِبَتْ لَهُ الْقَنَاعَةُ صَانَتْهُ
One who is granted contentment is preserved by it
