الْبَذْلُ يَكْسِبُ الْحَمْدَ

السَّيِّدُ مَحْسُودٌ وَالْجَوَادُ مَحْبُوبٌ مَوْدُودٌ
The eminent one is envied and the munificent one is loved and adored

الْجَوَادُ مَحْبُوبٌ مَحْمُودٌ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَصِلْ مِنْ جُودِهِ إِلَى مَادِحِهِ شَيْءٌ وَالْبَخِيلُ ضِدُّ ذَلِكَ
The generous person is loved and praised, even if nothing of his generosity reaches his praiser, and the stingy person is the opposite of this

الْجَوَادُ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَحْمُودٌ وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ مَسْعُودٌ
The one who is generous is praised in this world and felicitous in the Hereafter

أَنْعِمْ تُحْمَدْ
Confer favours and you will be praised

أَنْعِمْ تُشْكَرْ وَارْهَبْ تَحْذَرْ وَلَا تُمَازِحْ فَتُحْقَرَ
Confer favours and you will be thanked, fear [Allah] and you will be feared [by the people] and do not crack [silly] jokes such that you are belittled

إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ مَا اسْتُجْلِبَ بِهِ الثَّنَاءُ السَّخَاءُ
The best thing by which praise is gained, is generosity; and the thing that draws forth the most abundant, lasting benefits is charity

وَإِنَّ أَجْزَلَ مَا اسْتُدِرَّتْ بِهِ الْأَرْبَاحُ الْبَاقِيَةُ الصَّدَقَةُ
The best thing by which praise is gained, is generosity; and the thing that draws forth the most abundant, lasting benefits is charity

بِتَحَمُّلِ الْمُؤَنِ تَكْثُرُ الْمَحَامِدُ
By bearing the burden of provision [for the people], praises increase

بِالْبَذْلِ تَكْثُرُ الْمَحَامِدُ
Through generosity, praises are increased

جُدْ بِمَا تَجِدُ تُحْمَدْ
Be generous with whatever you have, [and] you will be praised

مَنْ أَحَبَّ الذِّكْرَ الْجَمِيلَ فَلْيَبْذُلْ مَالَهُ
One who loves to be remembered with praise should give generously from his wealth

مَا شَاعَ الذِّكْرُ بِمِثْلِ الْبَذْلِ
Nothing spreads renown like generosity

الْجُودُ عِزٌّ مَوْجُودٌ
Generosity is a present honour

أَعْطِ تَسْتَطِعْ [تَصْطَنِعْ]
Give and you shall become capable (or be chosen)

أَسْمَحُكُمْ أَرْبَحُكُمْ [أَعْلَمُكُمْ أَرْبَحُكُمْ]
The most generous of you is the one who will gain the most

إِنْ تَفَضَّلْتَ خُدِمْتَ
If you confer favours, you will be served

بِالسَّخَاءِ تُزَانُ الْأَفْعَالُ
Through generosity, actions become beautiful

بِبَذْلِ النِّعْمَةِ تُسْتَدَامُ النِّعْمَةُ
By being generous with blessings, the blessings last longer

ثَمَرَةُ الْكَرَمِ صِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ
The fruit of nobleness is keeping ties with near relatives

لَنْ يَقْدِرَ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَسْتَدِيمَ النِّعَمَ بِمِثْلِ شُكْرِهَا وَلَا يُزَيِّنُهَا بِمِثْلِ بَذْلِهَا
Nothing has the ability to make blessings last like showing gratitude for them and nothing beautifies them like granting them [to others]
