بالسخاء تسترق الرقاب
بِالْإِفْضَالِ تُسْتَرَقُّ الْأَعْنَاقُ
By conferring favours, people are enthralled

مَنْ تَفَضَّلَ خُدِمَ
One who bestows goodness [to others] is served [by them]

مَنْ بَذَلَ مَالَهُ اسْتَعْبَدَ
One who gives [generously from] his wealth makes [others] subservient [to him]

One who gives generously enthrals the people

مَنْ سَمَحَتْ نَفْسُهُ بِالْعَطَاءِ اسْتَعْبَدَ أَبْنَاءَ الدُّنْيَا
One who is generous in granting [favours], enthrals the people of this world
