في ذم المال
الْمَالُ يَعْسُوبُ الْفُجَّارِ
Wealth is the leader of the wicked

الْعَاقِلُ يَطْلُبُ الْكَمَالَ الْجَاهِلُ يَطْلُبُ الْمَالَ
The intelligent one seeks perfection, the ignorant one seeks wealth

الْمَالُ يَنْفَعُكَ حَتَّى يُفَارِقَكَ
Wealth does not benefit you until it parts from you

الْمَالُ يُكْرِمُ صَاحِبَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَيُهِينُهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ
Wealth honours its possessor in this world and abases him in front of Allah, the Glorified

الْمَالُ يَرْفَعُ صَاحِبَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَيَضَعُهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ
Wealth elevates its possessor in this world but lowers him in the Hereafter

الْمَالُ وَبَالٌ عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ إِلَّا مَا قَدَّمَ مِنْهُ
Wealth is a burden for its possessor except that which he sends ahead from it [for the Hereafter]

الْمَالُ تَنْقُصُهُ النَّفَقَةُ وَالْعِلْمُ يَزْكُو عَلَى الْإِنْفَاقِ
Wealth is reduced by spending [it] whereas knowledge grows when it is given away [and shared with others]

النَّاسُ مِنْ خَوْفِ الذُّلِّ مُتَعَجِّلُوا الذُّلِّ
Out of fear of humiliation, people are hastening [towards] humiliation

أَمْسِكْ مِنَ الْمَالِ بِقَدْرِ ضَرُورَتِكَ وَقَدِّمِ الْفَضْلَ لِيَوْمِ فَاقَتِكَ
Hold on to wealth according to the extent of your need, and forward the rest for the day of your indigence

إِذَا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ عَبْداً بَغَّضَ إِلَيْهِ الْمَالَ وَقَصَّرَ مِنْهُ الْآمَالَ
When Allah loves a servant, He makes him hate wealth and shortens his hopes

إِذَا أَرَادَ بِعَبْدٍ شَرّاً حَبَّبَ إِلَيْهِ الْمَالَ وَبَسَطَ مِنْهُ الْآمَالَ
When Allah wants something bad for a servant, He makes wealth beloved to him and extends his [false] hopes

ثَرْوَةُ الْمَالِ تُرْدِي وَتُطْغِي وَتَفْنَى
Abundance of wealth causes destruction, makes one rebellious and perishes

كَمْ مِنْ مَغْبُوطٍ بِنِعْمَتِهِ وَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ
How many a person is envied for the blessing he has been given [in this world] while he is among those who will be destroyed in the Hereafter

لَنْ يَنْجُوَ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ غَنِيٌّ لِكَثْرَةِ مَالِهِ
The affluent person will never be saved from death because of his abundant wealth

لَيْسَ الْخَيْرُ أَنْ يَكْثُرَ مَالُكَ وَوَلَدُكَ إِنَّمَا الْخَيْرُ أَنْ يَكْثُرَ عِلْمُكَ وَيَعْظُمَ حِلْمُكَ
Goodness is not in having more wealth and children, rather goodness is only in possessing more knowledge and greater forbearance

لَا يُكْرِمُ الْمَرْءُ نَفْسَهُ حَتَّى يُهِينَ مَالَهُ
A person does not ennoble himself until he belittles his wealth

لَا يَجْمَعُ الْمَالَ إِلَّا الْحِرْصُ وَالْحَرِيصُ شَقِيٌّ مَذْمُومٌ
Nothing makes one amass wealth except greed, and the greedy is wretched and dispraised

لَا يُبْقِى الْمَالَ إِلَّا الْبُخْلُ وَالْبَخِيلُ مُعَاقَبٌ مَلُومٌ
Nothing holds back wealth except stinginess, and a miser is blameworthy and liable for punishment

لَا غِنَى بِأَحَدٍ مِنَ الِارْتِيَادِ وَقَدْرِ بَلَاغِهِ مِنَ الزَّادِ
No one can dispense with the need to seek his sustenance and that which he requires of provisions
