رب يسير أنمى من كثير
الْفَقْرُ الْفَادِحُ أَجْمَلُ مِنَ الْغِنَى الْفَاضِحِ
Extreme poverty is better than disgraceful affluence

إِنَّ الْيَسِيرَ مِنَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ لَأَكْرَمُ مِنَ الْكَثِيرِ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ
Verily the little that is from Allah, the Glorified, is more valuable than the plenty [that is gotten] from His creatures

رُبَّ يَسِيرٍ أَنْمَى مِنْ كَثِيرٍ
Many a thing that is little grows and develops much more than that which is plenty

قَلِيلٌ لَكَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَثِيرٍ لِغَيْرِكَ
Little that belongs to you is better than plenty that belongs to others

قَلِيلٌ تُحْمَدُ مَغَبَّتُهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَثِيرٍ تَضُرُّ عَاقِبَتُهُ
Little with a praised outcome is better than plenty with a harmful consequence

قَلِيلٌ يُفْتَقَرُ إِلَيْهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَثِيرٍ يُسْتَغْنَى عَنْهُ
The little that one is in need of is better than the plenty that one is needless of

قَلِيلٌ يَخِفُّ عَلَيْكَ عَمَلُهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَثِيرٍ تَسْتَثْقِلُ حَمْلَهُ
Little which is easy for you to act upon is better than a lot that is too heavy for you to bear

قَلِيلٌ يَكْفِي خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَثِيرٍ يُطْغِي
Little [wealth] that suffices is better than a lot which makes one insolent

The little that saves [one from hellfire] is better than plenty that destroys

يَسِيرُ الدُّنْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَثِيرِهَا وَبُلْغَتُهَا أَجْدَرُ مِنْ هَلَكَتِهَا
Little of this world is better than plenty of it, and that of it which suffices for subsistence in it is better than that which destroys
