الْعِلْمُ بِالْفَهْمِ
Knowledge is a treasure

الْفَهْمُ آيَةُ الْعِلْمِ
Understanding is a sign of knowledge

الْعِلْمُ دَاعِي الْفَهْمِ
Knowledge is the herald of comprehension

لِقَاحُ الْعِلْمِ التَّصَوُّرُ وَالْفَهْمُ
One who seeks right guidance from knowledge, it guides him

مَا أَفَادَ الْعِلْمُ مَنْ لَمْ يَفْهَمْ [لَا يَعْلَمُ] وَلَا نَفَعَ الْحِلْمُ مَنْ لَمْ يَحْلُمْ
Knowledge does not benefit the one who does not understand [it] and forbearance is not useful for the one who does not show clemency

لَيْسَ الْوَهْمُ كَالْفَهْمِ
Delusion is not the same as comprehension

لِأَهْلِ الْفَهْمِ تَصَرُّفُ الْأَقْوَالِ
For people of understanding speech becomes figurative

مَا افْتَقَرَ مَنْ مَلَكَ فَهْماً
One who possesses understanding does not become needy

مَنْ تَفَهَّمَ ازْدَادَ
One who tries to understand increases [his understanding]

إِنَّ النَّفْسَ حَمْضَةٌ وَالْأُذُنَ مَجَّاجَةٌ فَلَا تَجُبَّ فَهْمَكَ بِالْإِلْحَاحِ عَلَى قَلْبِكَ فَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنَ الْبَدَنِ اسْتِرَاحَةً
Verily the soul is like the camel that likes to eat bitter grass, and the ear does not retain much of what it hears, so do not cut off your understanding by being importunate with your soul because for each part of the body there is [need for] repose
