Thinking about the bounties of Allah is the best worship

Contemplation illuminates the mind

Thinking is the recreation of the God-fearing

الْفِكْرَةُ مِرْآةٌ صَافِيَةٌ
Thought is a gleaming mirror

الْفِكْرُ جَلَاءُ الْعُقُولِ
Thinking is the polish of the minds

الْفِكْرُ فِي الْخَيْرِ يَدْعُو إِلَى الْعَمَلِ بِهِ [بِارْتِيَاحٍ]
Thinking about good [action] invites one to act upon it

الْفِكْرُ إِحْدَى الْهِدَايَتَيْنِ
Thinking is one of the two means of guidance

التَّدْبِيرُ بِالرَّأْيِ وَالرَّأْيُ بِالْفِكْرِ
Planning comes with consideration and consideration comes with contemplation

مَا ذَلَّ مَنْ أَحْسَنَ الْفِكْرَ
He who excels in thinking never gets humiliated

أَفْكِرْ تُفِقْ
Reflect and you will awaken [and become alert]

التَّفَكُّرُ فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ عِبَادَةُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
Thinking about the kingdom of the heavens and earth is the worship of the sincere ones

تَفَكَّرْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَعْزِمَ وَشَاوِرْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُقْدِمَ وَتَدَبَّرْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَهْجُمَ
Think before you decide, consult before you proceed and ponder before you rush forward

رَوِّ قَبْلَ الْفِعْلِ كَيْ لَا تُعَابَ بِمَا تَفْعَلُ
Deliberate before [taking] action [and] you will not be criticized for what you do

طُوبَى لِمَنْ شَغَلَ قَلْبَهُ بِالْفِكْرِ وَلِسَانَهُ بِالذِّكْرِ
Blessed is the one who occupies his heart with reflection and his tongue with remembrance [of Allah]

فِكْرُ سَاعَةٍ قَصِيرَةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عِبَادَةٍ طَوِيلَةٍ
Thinking for a short while is better than prolonged worship

فَضْلُ فِكْرٍ وَتَفَهُّمٍ أَنْجَعُ مِنْ فَضْلِ تَكْرَارٍ وَدِرَاسَةٍ
The merit of thinking and understanding is more beneficial than the merit of revision and study

مَنْ تَأَمَّلَ اعْتَبَرَ
One who ponders [about the past] learns a lesson [from it]

مَنْ أَسْهَرَ عَيْنَ فِكْرَتِهِ بَلَغَ كُنْهَ هِمَّتِهِ
One who keeps his mind’s eye awake reaches the height of his endeavour

لَا تَسْتَعْمِلُوا الرَّأْيَ فِيمَا لَا يُدْرِكُهُ الْبَصَرُ وَلَا تَتَغَلْغَلُ فِيهِ الْفِكَرُ
Do not use opinion [and conjecture] in that which is neither perceived by sight nor penetrated by thought

لَا تُخْلِ نَفْسَكَ مِنْ فِكْرَةٍ تُزِيدُكَ حِكْمَةً وَعِبْرَةٍ تُفِيدُكَ عِصْمَةً
Do not let your soul be devoid of a thought that increases your wisdom and a lesson that safeguards you [from sin]

إِنَّ رَأْيَكَ لَا يَتَّسِعُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَفَرِّغْهُ لِلْمُهِمِّ
Indeed your opinion cannot encompass everything, so leave it for the important [issues]

مَنْ أَضَاعَ الرَّأْيَ ارْتَبَكَ
One who fails to apply the [correct] opinion becomes disconcerted

مَنْ أَعْمَلَ الرَّأْيَ غَنِمَ
One who acts on the [correct] opinion, benefits [from it]

فِكْرُكَ [ذِكْرُكَ] فِي الْمَعْصِيَةِ يَحْدُوكَ عَلَى الْوُقُوعِ فِيهَا
Your thinking about sin drives you to fall into it
