آثار قلة العقل و فقده
إِذَا قَلَّتِ الْعُقُولُ كَثُرَ الْفُضُولُ
When the intellects decrease, impertinent speech increases

فَقْدُ الْعَقْلِ شَقَاءٌ
Lack of intellect is wretchedness

مَنْ لَا يَعْقِلُ يَهُنْ وَمَنْ يَهُنْ لَا يُوَقَّرْ
One who does not use intellect is abased, and one who is abased is not revered

مَنْ لَا عَقْلَ لَهُ لَا تَرْتَجِيهِ
Do not have any expectations from one who has no intellect

مَنْ ضَيَّعَ عَاقِلًا دَلَّ عَلَى ضَعْفِ عَقْلِهِ
One who loses [the friendship of] an intelligent one shows the weakness of his [own] intellect

مَنْ قَلَّ عَقْلُهُ كَثُرَ هَزْلُهُ
One whose intellect is less, his jesting is increased

مَنْ قَعَدَ بِهِ الْعَقْلُ قَامَ بِهِ الْجَهْلُ
One who is held back by intellect is driven forward by ignorance

مَنْ فَاتَهُ الْعَقْلُ لَمْ يَعْدُهُ الذُّلُّ
One who loses his wits is not bypassed by abasement

مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عَقْلٌ يَزِينُهُ لَمْ يَنْبُلْ
One who does not have an intellect to adorn him, does not become noble

مَنْ لَمْ يَكْمُلْ عَقْلُهُ لَمْ تُؤْمَنْ بَوَائِقُهُ
One whose intellect is not complete, his evils are not safeguarded against

لَا يَثُوبُ الْعَقْلُ مَعَ اللَّعِبِ
Intellect [and wisdom] and idle play do not go together

لَا مَرَضَ أَضْنَى مِنْ قِلَّةِ الْعَقْلِ
There is no ailment more debilitating than lack of intellect

لَا دِينَ لِمَنْ لَا عَقْلَ لَهُ
He who has no intellect has no religion

لَا يُوثَقُ بِعَهْدِ مَنْ لَا عَقْلَ لَهُ
The promise of one who has no intellect is not relied upon

ضَلَالُ الْعَقْلِ يُبْعِدُ مِنَ الرَّشَادِ وَيُفْسِدُ الْمَعَادَ
Straying of the intellect distances one from right guidance and corrupts his Hereafter

ِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ إِزَالَةَ نِعْمَةٍ عَنْ عَبْدٍ كَانَ أَوَّلُ مَا يُغَيِّرُ عَنْهُ عَقْلَهُ وَأَشَدُّ شَيْءٍ عَلَيْهِ فَقْدَهُ
When Allah, the Glorified, wishes to remove a blessing from a servant, the first thing that He alters [and takes away from him] is his intellect, and losing it is the most difficult thing for him

يُعْجِبُنِي مِنَ الرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَرَى عَقْلَهُ زَائِداً عَلَى لِسَانِهِ وَلَا يَرَى لِسَانَهُ زَائِداً عَلَى عَقْلِهِ
I am amused by a man whose intellect is seen as an extension of his tongue, while his tongue is not seen as an extension of his intellect
