أفضل العقل و كماله
أَفْضَلُ الْعَقْلِ الرَّشَادُ
The best intellect is [that which leads one to] right guidance

The best intelligence is keeping away from idle sport

أَفْضَلُ الْعَقْلِ مَعْرِفَةُ الْإِنْسَانِ [الْمَرْءِ] نَفْسَهُ فَمَنْ عَرَفَ نَفْسَهُ عَقَلَ وَمَنْ جَهِلَهَا ضَلَّ
The best intelligence is for a person to know his self, for the one who knows his self becomes wise and the one who fails to know it goes astray

أَفْضَلُ الْعَقْلِ الِاعْتِبَارُ وَأَفْضَلُ الْحَزْمِ الِاسْتِظْهَارُ وَأَكْبَرُ الْحُمْقِ الِاغْتِرَارُ
The best intelligence is taking lesson [from the past], the best prudence is precaution and the biggest foolishness is being deceived [by worldly allures]

أَفْضَلُ النَّاسِ عَقْلًا أَحْسَنُهُمْ تَقْدِيراً لِمَعَاشِهِ وَأَشَدُّهُمْ اهْتِمَاماً بِإِصْلَاحِ مَعَادِهِ
The most intelligent of people is the best of them in estimating his livelihood and the most serious of them in endeavouring to improve his Hereafter

إِذَا كَمُلَ الْعَقْلُ نَقَصَتِ الشَّهْوَةُ
When the intellect becomes complete, lust diminishes

تَمَامُ الْعَقْلِ [تَمَامُ الْعَمَلِ] اسْتِكْمَالُهُ
The completion of the intellect (or of action) is in its perfection

حُسْنُ الْعَقْلِ جَمَالُ الظَّوَاهِرِ وَالْبَوَاطِنِ
A strong intellect is the beauty of the outward and inward facets [of a human being]
