الْعِبَادَةُ فَوْزٌ
Worship is [a means to] success

اجْعَلْ لِنَفْسِكَ فِيمَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ أَفْضَلَ الْمَوَاقِيتِ وَالْأَقْسَامِ
Reserve for yourself the best times and portions for that which is between you and Allah, the Glorified

إِنَّ قَوْماً عَبَدُوا اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ رَغْبَةً فَتِلْكَ عِبَادَةُ التُّجَّارِ وَقَوْماً عَبَدُوهُ رَهْبَةً فَتِلْكَ عِبَادَةُ الْعَبِيدِ وَقَوْماً عَبَدُوهُ شُكْراً فَتِلْكَ عِبَادَةُ الْأَحْرَارِ
Verily a group worshipped Allah, the Glorified, out of desire [for reward] that is the worship of the traders, and a group worshipped Him out of fear [of punishment] that is the worship of the slaves, and a group worshipped Him out of gratitude and that is the worship of the freemen

إِذَا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ عَبْداً أَلْهَمَهُ حُسْنَ الْعِبَادَةِ
When Allah loves a servant, he inspires him with the goodness of worship

دَوَامُ الْعِبَادَةِ بُرْهَانُ الظَّفَرِ بِالسَّعَادَةِ
Continued worship is proof of success in attainment of prosperity

فَضِيلَةُ السَّادَةِ حُسْنُ الْعِبَادَةِ
The excellence of the eminent ones is in [their] devout worship [of Allah]

كَيْفَ يَجِدُ لَذَّةَ الْعِبَادَةِ مَنْ لَا يَصُومُ عَنِ الْهَوَى
How can one who does not abstain from lowly desires discover the delight of worship?

مَنْ تَاجَرَ اللَّهَ رَبِحَ
Whoever does business with Allah, profits

مَنْ قَامَ بِشَرَائِطِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ أُهِّلَ لِلْعِتْقِ
One who fulfils the conditions of servitude deserves to be freed

مِنَ الْمَوَدَّةِ الْعَمَلُ لِلَّهِ فَوْقَ الطَّاقَةِ
Part of magnanimity is going beyond one’s [normal] capacity in working for [the pleasure of] Allah

مَا تَقَرَّبَ مُتَقَرِّبٌ بِمِثْلِ عِبَادَةِ اللَّهِ
One who seeks nearness [to Allah] is not brought closer [to Him] by anything other than the worship of Allah

خَادِعْ نَفْسَكَ عَنِ الْعِبَادَةِ وَارْفُقْ بِهَا وَخُذْ عَفْوَهَا وَنِشَاطَهَا إِلَّا مَا كَانَ مَكْتُوباً مِنَ الْفَرِيضَةِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا بُدَّ مِنْ أَدَائِهَا
Deceive your heart into worshipping and be gentle with it (or do not compel it), and engage it [in worship] when it is free and lively, except for what has been prescribed as obligatory, for indeed that must be fulfilled [in any case]

رُبَّ مُتَنَسِّكٍ وَلَا دِينَ لَهُ
A person may be a devotee while he [actually] has no religion

الْعِبَادَةُ الْخَالِصَةُ أَنْ لَا يَرْجُوَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَّا رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَخَافَ إِلَّا ذَنْبَهُ
Sincere worship means that a person [puts his] hopes in none other than his Lord and fears nothing but his wrongdoing

أَفْضَلُ الْعِبَادَةِ عِفَّةُ الْبَطْنِ وَالْفَرْجِ
The best worship is safeguarding the stomach and private parts [from the forbidden]

أَفْضَلُ الْعِبَادَةِ غَلَبَةُ الْعَادَةِ
The best worship is overcoming [a bad] habit

زَيْنُ الْعِبَادَةِ الْخُشُوعُ
The adornment of worship is humility [and submissiveness]
