التَّوْبَةُ مَمْحَاةٌ [مَنْجَاةٌ]
Repentance is an eraser [of bad deeds]

Repentance causes [divine] mercy to descend

إِخْلَاصُ التَّوْبَةِ يُسْقِطُ [تُسْقِطُ] الْحَوْبَةَ
Sincere repentance cancels [one’s] sins

التَّوْبَةُ تُطَهِّرُ الْقُلُوبَ وَتَغْسِلُ الذُّنُوبَ
Repentance purifies the hearts and washes away sins

بِالتَّوْبَةِ تُمَحَّصُ السَّيِّئَاتُ
Through repentance, sins are purged

بِالتَّوْبَةِ تُكَفَّرُ الذُّنُوبُ
Through repentance, sins are expiated

ثَمَرَةُ التَّوْبَةِ اسْتِدْرَاكُ فَوَارِطِ النَّفْسِ
The fruit of repentance is correcting the excesses of the self

حُسْنُ التَّوْبَةِ يَمْحُو الْحَوْبَةَ
Sincere repentance erases misdeeds

لَوْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ حِينَ عَصَوْا أَنَابُوا وَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لَمْ يُعَذَّبُوا وَلَمْ يَهْلِكُوا
If the people were to turn in repentance [to Allah] and seek forgiveness whenever they disobeyed [or sinned], they would neither be punished nor would they be destroyed

مَنِ اسْتَدْرَكَ أَصْلَحَ
One who makes amends [for his past mistakes] reforms [himself]

مَنِ اسْتَدْرَكَ فَوَارِطَهُ أَصْلَحَ
One who rectifies his [past] mistakes reforms [himself]

مَنْ تَابَ فَقَدْ أَنَابَ
One who repents [with sincerity] has indeed returned [to Allah]

مَعَ الْإِنَابَةِ تَكُونُ الْمَغْفِرَةُ
It is by returning [to Allah] that forgiveness is gained

يَسِيرُ التَّوْبَةِ وَالِاسْتِغْفَارِ يُمَحِّصُ الْمَعَاصِيَ وَالْإِصْرَارَ
The smallest [amount of] repentance and seeking forgiveness purges sins and repeated misdeeds
