الْبُكَاءُ سَجِيَّةُ الْمُشْفِقِينَ
Weeping is the trait of the soft-hearted [and those who fear Allah]

الْبُكَاءُ مِنْ خِيفَةِ اللَّهِ لِلْبُعْدِ عَنِ اللَّهِ عِبَادَةُ الْعَارِفِينَ
Weeping out of fear of Allah, because of being far from Allah, is the worship of the cognizant

الْبُكَاءُ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ يُنِيرُ الْقَلْبَ وَيَعْصِمُ مِنْ مُعَاوَدَةِ الذَّنْبِ
Weeping out of the fear of Allah illuminates the heart and protects [one] from repetition of sin

الْبُكَاءُ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ مِفْتَاحُ الرَّحْمَةِ
Weeping out of the fear of Allah is the key to [divine] mercy

بِالْبُكَاءِ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ تُمَحَّصُ الذُّنُوبُ
By weeping out of the fear of Allah, sins get purified

The weeping of a servant out of the fear of Allah clears away his sins
