الْخَوْفُ اسْتِظْهَارٌ
Fear [of Allah] is a backing

الْخَوْفُ سِجْنُ النَّفْسِ عَنِ الذُّنُوبِ وَرَادِعُهَا عَنِ الْمَعَاصِي
Fear [of Allah] is the imprisonment of the self from sins and its impediment from vices

ارْهَبْ تَحْذَرْ
Fear [Allah] and you will be feared by the people

ارْهَبْ تَحْذَرْ وَلَا تَهْزِلْ فَتُحْتَقَرَ
Fear [Allah] and you will be feared; and do not act jokingly such that you are belittled

إِذَا خِفْتَ الْخَالِقَ فَرَرْتَ إِلَيْهِ
When you fear the Creator, you flee towards Him

خَفْ رَبَّكَ وَارْجُ رَحْمَتَهُ يُؤْمِنْكَ مِمَّا تَخَافُ وَيُنِلْكَ مَا رَجَوْتَ
Fear your Lord and seek His mercy, He will save you from that which you fear [in this world] and will bestow [upon you] what you hope for

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ تَقِيَّةَ مَنْ سَمِعَ فَخَشَعَ وَاقْتَرَفَ فَاعْتَرَفَ وَوَجِلَ فَعَمِلَ وَحَاذَرَ فَبَادَرَ
So be wary of [your duty towards] Allah with the God-wariness of one who listens hence humbles himself, who commits [a sin] hence he confesses, who becomes afraid hence he performs virtuous acts and is cautious hence he hastens [towards good deeds]

مَنْ خَافَ أَدْلَجَ
One who fears [Allah] gets up [to worship Him] in the night

مَنْ كَثُرَتْ مَخَافَتُهُ قَلَّتْ آفَتُهُ
One whose fear [of Allah] increases, his affliction is reduced

مَنْ خَافَ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَشْفِ غَيْظَهُ
One who fears Allah does not quench his anger [by taking revenge]

مَنْ خَشَعَ قَلْبُهُ خَشَعَتْ جَوَارِحُهُ
One whose heart submits, his limbs [also] submit

مَنْ خَافَ رَبَّهُ كَفَّ عَنْ ظُلْمِهِ
One who fears his Lord refrains from being unjust [to anyone]

مَنْ قَلَّتْ مَخَافَتُهُ كَثُرَتْ آفَتُهُ
One whose fear [of Allah] reduces, his affliction increases

نِعْمَ الْحَاجِزُ عَنِ الْمَعَاصِي الْخَوْفُ
The best barrier from sins is fear [of Allah]
