الْإِصْرَارُ يُوجِبُ النَّارَ
Persistence [in sinning] leads one to hellfire

الْإِصْرَارُ أَعْظَمُ حَوْبَةً
Persistence [in sinning] is the gravest of sins

الْإِصْرَارُ يَجْلِبُ النَّقِمَةَ
Disobedience [to Allah] brings retribution

الْمُعَاوَدَةُ إِلَى الذَّنْبِ [لِلذَّنْبِ] إِصْرَارٌ
Persistence [in sinning] is the gravest sin and the quickest in [bringing] retribution

الْإِصْرَارُ أَعْظَمُ حَوْبَةً وَأَسْرَعُ عُقُوبَةً
Keeping away from vices is more important [and better] than earning good deeds

التَّهَجُّمُ عَلَى الْمَعَاصِي يُوجِبُ عِقَابَ النَّارِ
When committing sins, recall how the pleasures will [soon] end and the consequences that follow will remain

إِيَّاكَ وَالْإِصْرَارَ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ أَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ وَأَعْظَمِ الْجَرَائِمِ
Refrain from persistence [in committing vices] for it is surely the gravest of great sins and the worst of offences

أَعْظَمُ الذُّنُوبِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ذَنْبٌ أَصَرَّ عَلَيْهِ عَامِلُهُ
The worst of sins in the sight of Allah is the sin upon which its doer persists

أَعْظَمُ الذُّنُوبِ ذَنْبٌ أَصَرَّ عَلَيْهِ صَاحِبُهُ
The gravest of sins is the sin upon which the sinner persists

إِنَّ اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ لَيُبْغِضُ الْوَقِحَ الْمُتَجَرِّئَ عَلَى الْمَعَاصِي
Verily Allah, the Glorified, hates the one who is insolent and bold in committing sins

مَنْ أَصَرَّ عَلَى ذَنْبِهِ اجْتَرَى عَلَى سَخَطِ رَبِّهِ
Whoever takes pleasure in the disobedience of Allah is made to suffer utter humiliation by Allah

مِنَ الْغِرَّةِ بِاللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ أَنْ يُصِرَّ الْمَرْءُ عَلَى الْمَعْصِيَةِ وَيَتَمَنَّى الْمَغْفِرَةَ [الْعِزَّةَ]
When a person persists in sinning and [still] expects to be forgiven, then he is under a delusion about Allah, the Glorified

لَا تُصِرَّ عَلَى مَا يُعَقِّبُ الْإِثْمَ
Do not tear your veils [of innocence] in front of the One who knows your secrets

لَا وِزْرَ أَعْظَمُ مِنَ الْإِصْرَارِ
There is no vice greater than rejoicing in acts of depravity

الْمُذْنِبُ عَنْ [عَلَى] غَيْرِ عِلْمٍ بَرِيءٌ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ
The weapon of the sinner is repentance

التَّبَجُّحُ بِالْمَعَاصِي أَقْبَحُ مِنْ رُكُوبِهَا
Is there any place of protection or shelter, or any sanctuary or asylum, or any place to flee or return back to?

أَبْغَضُ الْخَلَائِقِ إِلَى اللَّهِ الشَّيْخُ الزَّانِ [الزَّانِي]
The most despised of creatures in the sight of Allah is the old adulterer

إِنَّ حِلْمَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى عَلَى الْمَعَاصِي [إِنَّ حِلْمَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَهُ عَنْكَ] جَرَّأَكَ وَبِهَلَكَةِ نَفْسِكَ أَغْرَاكَ
Verily the clemency shown by Allah, the Most High, despite [your] acts of disobedience has made you bold and has driven you to [do things that will] destroy yourself

إِنْ تَنَزَّهُوا عَنِ الْمَعَاصِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ [يُنْجِكُمُ اللَّهُ]
Verily if you keep away from vices you will attain elevated ranks

إِنَّكَ إِنِ اجْتَنَبْتَ السَّيِّئَاتِ نِلْتَ رَفِيعَ الدَّرَجَاتِ
The bane of obedience is insubordination

إِنَّكُمْ إِنْ أَقْبَلْتُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ أُقْبِلْتُمْ وَإِنْ أَدْبَرْتُمْ عَنْهُ أُدْبِرْتُمْ
Verily if you turn towards Allah you have progressed, and if you turn away from Him, you have regressed

آفَةُ الطَّاعَةِ الْعِصْيَانُ
When you commit a sin then be remorseful for it

إِذَا قَلَّتِ الطَّاعَاتُ كَثُرَتِ السَّيِّئَاتُ
When acts of obedience diminish, wrongdoings increase

إِذَا ضَعُفْتَ فَاضْعُفْ عَنْ مَعَاصِي اللَّهِ
When you become weak, then be weak in the disobedience of Allah

تَرْكُ الذَّنْبِ شَدِيدٌ وَأَشَدُّ مِنْهُ تَرْكُ الْجَنَّةِ
Giving up sin is difficult, but giving up Paradise is [going to be] more difficult

رُبَّ ذَنْبٍ مِقْدَارُ الْعُقُوبَةِ عَلَيْهِ إِعْلَامُ الْمُذْنِبِ بِهِ
Many a sin is such that the [appropriate] degree of punishment for it is informing the sinner of it
