الْإِنْسَانُ بِعَقْلِهِ
The human being is [distinguished] by his intellect

الْعَقْلُ رَسُولُ الْحَقِّ
The intellect is the messenger of the truth

الْعَقْلُ صَدِيقٌ مَقْطُوعٌ
The intellect is a friend that has been cut-off

الْمَرْءُ صَدِيقُ مَا عَقَلَ
A person is the friend of what he understands

الْعَقْلُ أَقْوَى أَسَاسٍ
The intellect is the strongest foundation

الْعَقْلُ حُسَامٌ قَاطِعٌ
The intellect is a sharp [cutting] sword

الْعَقْلُ ثَوْبٌ جَدِيدٌ لَا يَبْلَى
The intellect is [like] a new attire that does not get worn out

الْعَقْلُ رَقِيٌّ إِلَى عِلِّيِّينَ
The intellect elevates one to the lofty stations [in Paradise]

الْعَقْلُ شَرَفٌ كَرِيمٌ لَا يَبْلَى
The intellect is an honourable nobility that does not wear away

الْعَقْلُ صَاحِبُ جَيْشِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَالْهَوَى قَائِدُ جَيْشِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَالنَّفْسُ مُتَجَاذِبَةٌ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأَيُّهُمَا غَلَبَ كَانَتْ فِي حَيِّزِهِ
The intellect is the leader of the army of the Most Merciful and vain desire is the chief of the army of Satan, and the soul is pulled back and forth between them, so whichever of them is victorious, it [iethe soul] is in its domain

الْعَقْلُ صَدِيقٌ مَحْمُودٌ
The intellect is a praiseworthy friend

أَفْضَلُ حَظِّ الرَّجُلِ عَقْلُهُ إِنْ ذَلَّ أَعَزَّهُ وَإِنْ سَقَطَ رَفَعَهُ إِنْ ضَلَّ أَرْشَدَهُ وَإِنْ تَكَلَّمَ سَدَّدَهُ
The best portion of a person is his intellect, if he gets humiliated it restores his honour, if he falls it raises him, if he goes astray it guides him and if he talks it directs him

إِنَّ اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ يُحِبُّ الْعَقْلَ [الْفِعْلَ] الْقَوِيمَ وَالْعَمَلَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Verily Allah, the Glorified, loves the sound intellect and the upright action

إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ أَحْيَا عَقْلَهُ وَأَمَاتَ شَهْوَتَهُ وَأَتْعَبَ نَفْسَهُ لِصَلَاحِ آخِرَتِهِ
Verily the best person in the sight of Allah is one who enlivens his mind, kills off his lust and exerts himself for the betterment of his Hereafter

إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْراً مَنَحَهُ عَقْلًا قَوِيماً وَعَمَلًا مُسْتَقِيماً
When Allah wishes good for a servant, He grants him a sound intellect and upright action

تَزْكِيَةُ الرَّجُلِ عَقْلُهُ
The purification of a man is through his intellect

حَسَبُ الرَّجُلِ عَقْلُهُ وَمُرُوءَتُهُ خُلُقُهُ
The distinction of a man is his intellect and his magnanimity is [by] his [good] character

صَدِيقُ كُلِّ امْرِئٍ عَقْلُهُ وَعَدُوُّهُ جَهْلُهُ
The friend of every person is his intellect and his enemy is his ignorance

عَدَاوَةُ الْعَاقِلِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ صَدَاقَةِ الْجَاهِلِ
The enmity of an intelligent person is better than the friendship of an ignorant one

غَايَةُ الْمَرْءِ حُسْنُ عَقْلِهِ
The highest distinction of a person is the excellence of his intellect

الدِّينُ لَا يُصْلِحُهُ إِلَّا الْعَقْلُ
Religion is not reformed except by the intellect

عَلَى قَدْرِ الْعَقْلِ يَكُونُ الدِّينُ
One’s religiousness is proportionate to his intellect

قِيمَةُ كُلِّ امْرِئٍ عَقْلُهُ
The value of every person [gauged by] is what he knows

كُلُّ الْحَسَبِ مُتَنَاهٍ إِلَّا الْعَقْلَ وَالْأَدَبَ
Every distinction is limited except intelligence and good etiquette

كَمَالُ الْإِنْسَانِ الْعَقْلُ
The perfection of a human being is his intellect

لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ غَايَةٌ وَغَايَةُ الْمَرْءِ عَقْلُهُ
Everything has a pinnacle, and the pinnacle of a person is his intellect

مَا آمَنَ الْمُؤْمِنُ حَتَّى عَقَلَ
A believer has not [truly] believed until he comprehends

مِلَاكُ الْأَمْرِ الْعَقْلُ
The basis of [the rightness of] an affair is the intellect

مَا اسْتَوْدَعَ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ امْرَأً عَقْلًا إِلَّا لِيَسْتَنْقِذَهُ بِهِ يَوْماً
Allah, the Glorified, has only entrusted man with an intellect so that it may one day deliver him

مِيزَةُ الرَّجُلِ عَقْلُهُ وَجَمَالُهُ مُرُوَّتُهُ
The distinguishing feature of a man is his intellect and his beauty is his magnanimity

اعْقَلْ عَقْلَكَ وَامْلِكْ أَمْرَكَ وَجَاهِدْ نَفْسَكَ وَاعْمَلْ لِلْآخِرَةِ جُهْدَكَ
Fetter your intellect, control your affair, struggle with your [lower] self, and exert your effort in working for the Hereafter
