في العمر و أهميته
إِنَّ عُمُرَكَ مَهْرُ [سهر] سَعَادَتِكَ إِنْ أَنْفَذْتَهُ فِي طَاعَةِ رَبِّكَ
Verily your lifetime is the dower of your prosperity if you spend it in obedience to your Lord

إِنَّ عُمُرَكَ عَدَدُ أَنْفَاسِكَ وَعَلَيْهَا رَقِيبٌ تُحْصِيهَا
Verily your lifespan is the number of your breaths, and there is a watcher who counts them

فَيَا لَهَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى ذِي غَفْلَةٍ إِنْ يَكُنْ عُمُرُهُ عَلَيْهِ حُجَّةً وَأَنْ تُؤَدِّبَهُ [تُؤَدِّيَهُ] أَيَّامُهُ إِلَى شَقْوَةٍ
Pitiable indeed is the negligent person whose entire life will be used as proof against him and whose days will lead him to wretchedness

قَصِّرِ الْأَمَلَ فَإِنَّ الْعُمُرَ قَصِيرٌ وَافْعَلِ الْخَيْرَ فَإِنَّ يَسِيرَهُ كَثِيرٌ
Reduce [your] hopes, for verily life is short; and perform good actions, for verily little of it is plenty

لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَعَزَّ مِنَ الْكِبْرِيتِ الْأَحْمَرِ إِلَّا مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمُرِ الْمُؤْمِنِ
There is nothing more valuable than red sulphur, except that which remains from the lifetime of a believer

هَلْ يَنْتَظِرُ أَهْلُ غَضَاضَةِ الشَّبَابِ إِلَّا حَوَانِيَ [خوافي] الْهَرَمِ
Are the people who are enjoying the vitality of good health awaiting anything other than the afflictions of illness?!

لَا يَعْرِفُ قَدْرَ مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ أَوْ صِدِّيقٌ
Nobody knows how much longer he has to live except a Prophet or a man of truth
