آثار متفرقة لحب الدنيا
الْفَرَحُ بِالدُّنْيَا حُمْقٌ
Being pleased with this world is foolishness

الرَّغْبَةُ فِي الدُّنْيَا تُوجِبُ الْمَقْتَ
Longing for this world brings about hatred

إِيَّاكَ وَحُبَّ الدُّنْيَا فَإِنَّهَا أَصْلُ كُلِّ خَطِيئَةٍ وَمَعْدِنُ كُلِّ بَلِيَّةٍ
Keep away from love of this world, for it is the root of every misdeed and the source of every affliction

إِنَّكُمْ إِنْ رَغِبْتُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَفْنَيْتُمْ أَعْمَارَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَبْقُونَ لَهُ وَلَا يَبْقَى لَكُمْ
Indeed, if you crave after this world, you will waste your lives for that which you will not remain for and that which will not remain for you

حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا رَأْسُ كُلِّ خَطِيئَةٍ
Love of this world is the source of every misdeed

حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا يُوجِبُ الطَّمَعَ
Love of this world gives rise to avarice

حَرَامٌ عَلَى كُلِّ قَلْبٍ مُتَوَلِّهٍ بِالدُّنْيَا أَنْ يَسْكُنَهُ التَّقْوَى
It is forbidden upon every heart which is inclined to this world that God-wariness should reside in it

رَأْسُ الْآفَاتِ الْوَلَهُ بِالدُّنْيَا
The cornerstone of calamities is infatuation with this world

لِحُبِّ الدُّنْيَا صَمَّتِ الْأَسْمَاعُ عَنْ سَمَاعِ الْحِكْمَةِ وَعَمِيَتِ الْقُلُوبُ عَنْ نُورِ الْبَصِيرَةِ
For love of this world, listeners turn a deaf ear to [words of] wisdom and hearts become blind to the light of insight

مَنْ طَلَبَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا مَا يُرْضِيهِ كَثُرَ تَجَنِّيهِ وَطَالَ تَعَدِّيهِ
One who seeks from this world that which pleases him, his crime [and sinfulness] increases and his transgression prolongs

مَنْ رَاقَهُ زِبْرِجُ الدُّنْيَا أَعْقَبَ نَاظِرَيْهِ كَمَهاً
Whoever is attracted by the dazzle of this world, it blinds both his eyes

مَنْ وَثِقَ بِغُرُورِ الدُّنْيَا [فَقَدْ] أَمِنَ مَخُوفَهُ
One who relies on the deceptions of this world considers himself safe from its perils

لَا يَحِنَّنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ حَنِينَ الْأَمَةِ عَلَى مَا زُوِيَ عَنْهُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا
Let not any of you pine the way a servant girl pines, for that which has departed from him of this world

لَا يَجْتَمِعُ حُبُّ الْمَالِ وَالثَّنَاءُ
Love of wealth and praise do not go together
