حب الله و حب الدنيا لا يجتمعان
إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَأَخْرِجُوا مِنْ قُلُوبِكُمْ حُبَّ الدُّنْيَا
If you love Allah then remove from your hearts the love of this world

كَيْفَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَى إِعْمَالِ الرِّضَا الْقَلْبُ الْمُتَوَلِّهُ بِالدُّنْيَا
How can the heart that is inclined to this world be capable of being satisfied [with what has been decreed]?!

كَيْفَ يَدَّعِي حُبَّ اللَّهِ مَنْ سَكَنَ قَلْبَهُ حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا
How can one in whose heart love for this world resides, claim to love Allah?!

كَمَا أَنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَاللَّيْلَ لَا يَجْتَمِعَانِ كَذَلِكَ حُبُّ اللَّهِ وَحُبُّ الدُّنْيَا لَا يَجْتَمِعَانِ
Just as the sun and the night do not come together, similarly love for Allah and love for this world do not come together

مَنْ عَظُمَتِ الدُّنْيَا فِي عَيْنِهِ وَكَبُرَ مَوْقِعُهَا فِي قَلْبِهِ آثَرَهَا عَلَى اللَّهِ وَانْقَطَعَ إِلَيْهَا وَصَارَ عَبْداً لَهَا
One in whose eyes this world is grand and in whose heart its position is great, prefers it over Allah and devotes himself to it and becomes a slave to it
