الدنيا و حبها سبب الشقاء
الدُّنْيَا دَارُ الْأَشْقِيَاءِ
This world is the abode of the wretched

إِيَّاكَ وَالْوَلَهَ بِالدُّنْيَا فَإِنَّهَا تُورِثُكَ الشَّقَاءَ وَالْبَلَاءَ وَتَحْدُوكَ عَلَى بَيْعِ الْبَقَاءِ بِالْفَنَاءِ
Do not be infatuated with this world, for it brings you wretchedness and tribulation and impels you to sell the eternal for the transient

أَعْظَمُ الْخَطَايَا حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا
The gravest of errors is loving this world

أَعْظَمُ الْمَصَائِبِ وَالشَّقَاءِ الْوَلَهُ بِالدُّنْيَا
The gravest of afflictions and wretchedness is [caused by] infatuation with this world

سَبَبُ الشَّقَاءِ حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا
The cause of wretchedness is love of this world

فِي الدُّنْيَا رَغْبَةُ الْأَشْقِيَاءِ
This world is what the wretched desire

كُلَّمَا ازْدَادَ الْمَرْءُ بِالدُّنْيَا شُغُلًا وَزَادَ بِهَا وَلَهاً أَوْرَدَتْهُ الْمَسَالِكَ وَأَوْقَعَتْهُ فِي الْمَهَالِكِ
Whenever a person becomes more preoccupied and infatuated with this world, it makes him enter paths [of danger] and fall into places of destruction

مَنِ اعْتَمَدَ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا فَهُوَ الشَّقِيُّ الْمَحْرُومُ
One who relies on this world is indeed wretched and deprived

مَنْ كَانَتِ الدُّنْيَا هَمَّهُ طَالَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شَقَاؤُهُ وَغَمُّهُ
One whose concern [and effort] is for this world, his wretchedness and misery will be prolonged on the Day of Resurrection
