رب عالم
رُبَّ عَالِمٍ قَتَلَهُ عِلْمُهُ
Many a scholar is killed by his knowledge

رُبَّ مُدَّعٍ لِلْعِلْمِ لَيْسَ بِعَالِمٍ
Many a person who claims to have knowledge is not a scholar

رُبَّ عَالِمٍ غَيْرُ مُنْتَفِعٍ
Many a scholar does not benefit [from his knowledge]

رُبَّمَا أَخْطَأَ الْبَصِيرُ رُشْدَهُ
Sometimes the one who can see [also] loses his way

مَنْ زَادَ عِلْمُهُ عَلَى عَقْلِهِ كَانَ وَبَالًا عَلَيْهِ
One who learns [or lacks] the depth of knowledge proceeds [or is repelled] from the ways of wisdom
