الدين و الدنيا
الدِّينُ يُجِلُّ [الدِّينُ يُحِلُ] الدُّنْيَا تُذِلُّ
Religion exalts, this world humiliates

إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَبِيعَ حَظَّكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَزُلْفَتَكَ لَدَيْهِ بِحَقِيرٍ مِنْ حُطَامِ الدُّنْيَا
Beware of selling your share from your Lord and your rank with Him for the worthless vanities of this world

إِنَّ مَنْ بَاعَ جَنَّةَ الْمَأْوَى بِعَاجِلَةِ الدُّنْيَا تَعِسَ جِدُّهُ وَخَسِرَتْ صَفْقَتُهُ
Verily the one who sells the Garden of the [permanent] Abode for this transient world, his effort will be futile and his transaction will have made a loss

إِنْ جَعَلْتَ دِينَكَ تَبَعاً لِدُنْيَاكَ أَهْلَكْتَ دِينَكَ وَدُنْيَاكَ وَكُنْتَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
If you make your religion follow your worldly desires, you will have destroyed your religion and your [life in this] world, and you will be among the losers in the Hereafter

بِئْسَ الرَّجُلُ مَنْ بَاعَ دِينَهُ بِدُنْيَا غَيْرِهِ
The worst person is he who sells his religion for the worldly life of others

صُنْ دِينَكَ بِدُنْيَاكَ تَرْبَحْهُمَا وَلَا تَصُنْ دُنْيَاكَ بِدِينِكَ فَتَخْسَرَهُمَا
Safeguard your religion through your worldly life and you will gain both of them, and do not safeguard your worldly life through your religion thereby losing both of them

صُنِ الدِّينَ بِالدُّنْيَا يُنْجِكَ وَلَا تَصُنِ الدُّنْيَا بِالدِّينِ فَتُرْدِيَكَ
Safeguard the faith through [the life of] this world and it will save you, and do not safeguard [the life of] this world through the faith otherwise it will destroy you

طَالِبُ الدُّنْيَا بِالدِّينِ مُعَاقَبٌ مَذْمُومٌ
The one who seeks this world through religion is chastised and condemned

عَامِلُ الدِّينِ لِلدُّنْيَا جَزَاؤُهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ النَّارُ
One who acts upon religion for worldly gain, his recompense from Allah is [nothing but] hellfire

فَسَادُ الدِّينِ الدُّنْيَا
This world is the corruptor of religion

كُنْ عَاقِلًا فِي أَمْرِ دِينِكَ جَاهِلًا فِي أَمْرِ دُنْيَاكَ
Be intelligent in the affairs of your religion and simple in your worldly affairs

مَنْ كَرُمَ دِينُهُ عِنْدَهُ هَانَتِ الدُّنْيَا عَلَيْهِ
One who considers his religion to be precious, [the hardship of] this world becomes easy for him [to bear]

مَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَغْنِ بِاللَّهِ عَنِ الدُّنْيَا فَلَا دِينَ لَهُ [مَنْ لَمْ يُؤْثِرِ الْآخِرَةَ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا فَلَا عَقْلَ لَهُ]
One who does not become needless of this world through Allah has no religion

مِنَ الشَّقَاءِ أَنْ يَصُونَ الْمَرْءُ دُنْيَاهُ بِدِينِهِ
It is from wretchedness for a person to safeguard his world at the expense of his religion

مَا أَفْسَدَ الدِّينَ كَالدُّنْيَا
Nothing corrupts the faith like this world

هَلَكَ مَنِ اسْتَنَامَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا وَأَمْهَرَهَا دِينَهُ فَهُوَ حَيْثُمَا مَالَتْ مَالَ إِلَيْهَا قَدِ اتَّخَذَهَا هَمَّهُ وَمَعْبُودَهُ
Destroyed is one who finds reassurance in this world and makes his religion its dower, so he turns towards it wherever it turns, having taken it to be his [only] concern and his deity

وُفُورُ الْعِوَضِ بِابْتِذَالِ الْمَالِ وَصَلَاحُ الدِّينِ بِإِفْسَادِ الدُّنْيَا
The plenitude of dignity is [attained] through the generous spending of wealth, and the uprightness of religion is [realized] through devaluing this world

لَا تَمْهَرِ الدُّنْيَا دِينَكَ فَإِنَّ مَنْ مَهَرَ [أَمْهَرَ] الدُّنْيَا دِينَهُ زُفَّتْ إِلَيْهِ بِالشَّقَاءِ وَالْعَنَاءِ وَالْمِحْنَةِ وَالْبَلَاءِ
Do not give your religion as dower for this world, for indeed whoever gives his religion as dowry to this world, it brings to him wretchedness, pain, hardship and tribulation

لَا تَكُنْ غَافِلًا عَنْ دِينِكَ حَرِيصاً عَلَى دُنْيَاكَ مُسْتَكْثِراً مِمَّا لَا يَبْقَى عَلَيْكَ مُسْتَقِلًّا مِمَّا يَبْقَى لَكَ فَيُورِدَكَ ذَلِكَ الْعَذَابَ الشَّدِيدَ
Do not be neglectful of your religion and eager for your world by seeking more of that which will not last for you and less of that which will last for you, for this will lead you to severe chastisement [in the Hereafter]

لَا يَتْرُكِ النَّاسُ شَيْئاً مِنْ دِينِهِمْ لِإِصْلَاحِ دُنْيَاهُمْ إِلَّا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا هُوَ أَضَرُّ مِنْهُ
People do not abandon anything from their religion for the sake of this world but that Allah opens for them that which is more harmful for them

يَسِيرُ الدُّنْيَا يُفْسِدُ الدِّينَ
Little of this world corrupts the faith
