العلم بلا عمل
الْعِلْمُ بِلَا عَمَلٍ [بِغَيْرِ عَمَلٍ] وَبَالٌ
Knowledge without action is a plague

آفَةُ الْعِلْمِ تَرْكُ الْعَمَلِ بِهِ
When you hear knowledge then treat it seriously and do not taint it with jesting, thereby making the hearts spit it out

عِلْمٌ بِلَا عَمَلٍ حُجَّةٌ لِلَّهِ عَلَى الْعَبْدِ
The goal of knowledge is good action

شَرُّ الْعِلْمِ عِلْمٌ لَا يُعْمَلُ بِهِ
The worst knowledge is knowledge that is not action upon

مَنْ أَضَاعَ عِلْمَهُ الْتَطَمَ
One who wastes his knowledge [by not acting upon it] faces turmoil

أَوْضَعُ الْعِلْمِ مَا وَقَفَ عَلَى اللِّسَانِ
The most victorious of all people is he who overpowers his vain desire with his knowledge

مَا أَكْثَرَ مَنْ يَعْلَمُ الْعِلْمَ وَلَا يَتَّبِعُهُ
How many are those who gain knowledge but do not follow it!

أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ نَدَماً عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ الْعُلَمَاءُ غَيْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ
The most regretful of all people at the time of death are the scholars who don’t act on their knowledge

إِنَّمَا زَهَّدَ النَّاسَ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ كَثْرَةُ مَا يَرَوْنَ مِنْ قِلَّةِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِمَا عَلِمَ
The bane of knowledge is to forsake acting upon it

إِنَّ رُوَاةَ الْعِلْمِ كَثِيرٌ وَرُعَاتَهُ قَلِيلٌ
Verily the narrators of knowledge are many, but those who are careful of [acting upon] it are few

اعْقِلُوا الْخَبَرَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُوهُ عَقْلَ دِرَايَةٍ [رآية] لَا عَقْلَ رِوَايَةٍ فَإِنَّ رُوَاةَ الْعِلْمِ كَثِيرٌ وَرُعَاتَهُ قَلِيلٌ
Analyze the information when you hear it with the analysis of understanding (iein order to understand it), not the analysis of narration (iein order to narrate it to others), for indeed the narrators of information are many but those who consider it carefully are few

مَنْ لَمْ يَتَعَاهَدْ عِلْمَهُ فِي الْخَلَاءِ فَضَحَهُ فِي الْمَلَإِ
Whoever does not nurture his knowledge in solitude, it humiliates him among the people
