الْجَهْلُ يُزِلُّ الْقَدَمَ

الْجَهْلُ مَطِيَّةٌ شَمُوسٌ مَنْ رَكِبَهَا زَلَّ وَمَنْ صَحِبَهَا ضَلَّ [ظل]
Ignorance is a balky mount; whoever rides it stumbles and whoever accompanies it is led astray

The lapse of an intelligent person is a crushing blow

زَلَّةُ الَمْتُوَقِّي أَشَدُّ زَلَّةٍ وَعِلَّةُ اللَّوْمِ أَقْبَحُ عِلَّةٍ
The lapse of one who is [evidently] pious is the worst of lapses and the sickness of ignobility is the most repulsive of sicknesses
